What is Poi?

„Poi“ is the Maori word for „ball“

The women used them in the performance of their traditional dances.

The man used them in coordination and weapons training. The Poi consists of a cord or chain with a weight at the end. They are swung around the body, using movements similar to juggling, in various rhythmic. If the Poi is lit, they are called “fire Poi”.
